Commuting around Metro Manila means dealing with heavy traffic and long queues at terminals and train stations. Planning the daily travel helps commuters adjust and minimize wasted time waiting for public transportation and traffic, especially during rush hour. Thankfully, Rush PH does away with the guesswork that comes with wondering when the train will arrive.
This passion project was developed by Joshua Bumanlag, a magna cum laude computer science graduate, who wants what transit systems in countries like Thailand and Singapore have: a simple ETA for the next available train.
On the website, users can select train stations from a simple drop-down menu. Upon choosing one, they are immediately presented with the train's ETA in minutes, which is calculated based on official schedules and real-time reports diligently submitted by other commuters, as well as other data like whether the train is empty or crowded. A community-powered app, users can contribute by giving information about the train line, station, direction, and status.
Staying true to its mission to help the general public, Rush PH is easily accessible on a web browser—even on modest mobile phones.
Rush PH is accessible via rush-ph.netlify.app.
