Kariton

Kariton Kariton

Kariton has landed in Manila, trading the Australian city where it was founded for the country that inspired the brand in the first place. Born in 2020 from the kitchen of pastry chef Minh Duong and Filipino chef John Rivera in Melbourne, this brand is a glow-up for the humble kariton, honoring the sorbeteros who raised us on "dirty ice cream."

The menu is a perfect fusion of Filipino snack nostalgia and serious culinary technique. Beyond the classic Ube Halaya and Turon, the menu gets playful with flavors like Kalamansi Hinebra (yes, it’s spiked with Ginebra gin) and Champorado gelato that reminds you of rainy mornings.

Here, you also won’t need to run after the magtataho. Their Taho Soft Serve features soy milk panna cotta and oolong tea syrup for a refined sugar fix. Don’t leave without a Yemabon—a handheld dessert made of salted egg biscuit, miso fudge, and malted milk gelato dipped in caramelized white chocolate.

Witty and artisanal, Kariton is undoubtedly the tastiest homecoming of the year.
