Singapore's famous modern Japanese dining concept Omoté opened just about a month ago in San Juan but it's already been loved for demonstrating the exquisite techniques and craftsmanship Japanese cuisine is known for.
In its country of origin, Omoté's regular diners expect to enjoy meals that exemplify the traits the Japanese are famous for around the world: balance, delicacy, and intention. Now that it has opened its first-ever international branch in San Juan, the brand is continuing all the practices its Singapore restaurants live by. Omoté uses only fresh seafood flown from Japan—its sushi and sashimi offerings are the stars of every show here.
Although it has undeniably solid Japanese roots, Omoté keeps its menu interesting by taking inspiration from many other different cuisines. Some foodies may call it a fusion restaurant, but the more discerning ones can see that at the end of the day, Omoté remains Japanese at heart.
Start your meal with premium sushi and sashimi. Try the handcrafted rolls and the donburi, too. Don't forget to leave space for the chirashi bowls. Although there is a lot of seafood in Omoté's menu, it offers steaks as well; for when you're especially hungry, the Omoté classic strip steak melts in the mouth.
Regardless of what you have in Omoté, though, one thing's for sure: It will be prepared with precision and absolute passion.
Omoté is located at 8 V. Ibañez Street corner Jose Abad Santos Street, San Juan City.
