The remains of Celeste Rivas Hernandez, the teenage girl found dead in singer d4vd's Tesla trunk, have been returned to her family for the funeral.

The Los Angeles County Coroner confirmed that her body was released to her family on Tuesday, Sept. 23, according to reports by TMZ and PEOPLE Magazine.

This came a few days after Hernandez's family spoke out about her death. "As many of you know, Celeste Rivas Hernandez has been identified as the body found last week," organizers Esmeralda Lozano and Gisel Vera wrote on the GoFundMe page on Sept. 18.

They described Hernande as a "beloved daughter, sister, cousin, and friend."

Per the fundraising page, the funeral for the 15-year-old girl is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 4.

Hernandez was first reported missing in April 2024 in Lake Elsinore, California.

On Sept. 8 this year, a dismembered, decomposing body was discovered wrapped in plastic in the front trunk of d4vd's Tesla, which was eventually identified as Hernandez’s. The vehicle was at a Hollywood impound lot.

Her remains were discovered after workers and neighbors called the police to complain about a foul smell. The authorities said that the car had been in the tow yard for several days before the odors were reported.

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office found Hernandez’s body to be “severely decomposed.” It would need more time to determine the cause of death.

On Sept. 17, police executed a search warrant amid a probe into Hernandez's death at the Hollywood Hills mansion where 20-year-old d4vd has been reportedly staying, according to a report by ABC Los Angeles.

The New York Post reported that in 2023, fan chatrooms were abuzz with rumors about d4vd dating a teenage girl named Celeste. Social media users also noted that around the same time, d4vd released an unreleased track that includes the name “Celeste” twice.

According to TMZ, Hernandez’s mother said that before her daughter went missing, the teen had been dating a man named David.

Another connection is a matching tattoo on the singer and the teenager, which reads “Shhh”—both are located on their right index fingers.

The singer, whose real name is David Anthony Burke, was in the middle of his US tour for his first album, Withered, when Hernandez’s body was found.

Although he hasn’t released a statement regarding the investigation, his spokesperson has told the media that he is “fully cooperating with the authorities.”
