US singer d4vd 'likely' to be charged with murder in dead teen case

A grand jury is reportedly leaning toward a murder indictment against singer d4vd in connection with the death of a teenage girl.

According to a report from TMZ, jurors are likely to take their cue from the Los Angeles County prosecutors, who believe d4vd was involved in the death of 15-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez.

TMZ reported witnesses testifying in front of a grand jury earlier this month. Among the witnesses was Robert Morgenroth, d4vd's manager, who supposedly testified for several days. Between testimonies, the outlet said it overheard Morgenroth tell his lawyer Beth Silverman, the prosecutor, was "very pushy" about why he did not immediately call the police to report the death. Morgenroth allegedly said he replied, saying reporting it was not his responsibility, and that his job was to keep d4vd's tour going.

The Los Angeles Police Department is keeping a tight lid on details of the case. In early December, LAPD chief Jim McDonnell told FOX 11 the police were avoiding making public statements because these could "potentially jeopardize the case."

A court order has also sealed the medical examiner's full autopsy findings "to maintain the integrity of the investigation," reported FOX 11.

The case

In September 2025, Hernandez's heavily decomposed and dismembered body was found in the front trunk of d4vd's Tesla, which was abandoned at a Hollywood impound lot. The teen was first reported missing on April 15, 2024.

According to Hernandez's family, the teen did know the singer. Based on TMZ's reports, she was supposedly meeting up with him to see a movie the day she disappeared.

d4vd's friends told investigators they believed Hernandez was 19 and attending the University of Southern California since she was able to go to several age-restricted events. Authorities claimed Hernandez possessed multiple fake IDs, which she could have used to gain access to these events.

Further cementing Hernandez and d4vd's connection, investigators found the two had matching "sshhh" tattoos on their right index fingers.

Authorities raided a nearby rental house, where d4vd was reportedly staying prior to his Withered World Tour kickoff on June 30, and collected, among others, computers and electronic devices. Bending to public pressure, the singer eventually cancelled the rest of his tour, and has kept mum about the investigation.

By mid-November, police had identified d4vd as a suspect in the case.

According to TMZ, the grand jury will be hearing more testimonies through February 2026.
