Singer d4vd now a suspect in death of teen girl found in trunk of Tesla
Singer d4vd has been identified as a suspect in the investigation on the death of a 15-year-old girl found dismembered in his car in September.
Sources confirmed the development to ABC News. According to the media outlet, no arrests have been made amid the investigation.
The decomposing body of Celeste Rivas Hernandez was discovered on Sept. 8 by police. It was inside the trunk of a Tesla impounded in a Hollywood Hills tow yard. The Los Angeles Police Department told reporters the body was wrapped in a plastic sheet and was stowed in the vehicle's luggage compartment.
The vehicle was found to be registered in Texas to David Anthony Burke, whose stage name is d4vd.
According to the Los Angeles Times, detectives executed a search warrant at a house located close to the lot where the body was discovered. While the house was not owned by d4vd, the singer reportedly had been staying in the rental property prior to his world tour, which kicked off on July 30.
The search yielded electronics and computers.
NBC News reported a Los Angeles Police Department source saying d4vd has not been cooperating with the investigation. The source further said Hernandez likely died in the spring, and that it most likely took more than one person to dismember and dispose of the body.
Although d4vd was on tour when the body was discovered, he cancelled the rest of the tour amid the investigation.
Police have not yet determined Hernandez's cause of death as the body was in the advanced stages of decomposition when it was found.
