Ever seen your Facebook friends turn themselves or a favorite personality into a photorealistic 3D figurine?

More than likely, it is the work of Nano Banana, otherwise known as Gemini 2.5 Flash Image, an image generation and editing model powered by generative artificial intelligence developed by Google's subsidiary, DeepMind. What you would usually need to do for hours and hours in photo editing via Photoshop or similar programs, the Nano Banana can do in mere seconds. Launched on August 26 as an image tool within the Gemini chatbot, it instantly became a viral hit, resulting in 10 million new users to the online app. Now, it's become a go-to for any sort of photo modification its audience needs.

Nano Banana reintroduced a whole new generation to the power of words, now in prompt form. With just the right prompt, any user can create an image, remove an object from the background or change a subject’s pose, according to one's liking. To use the model, simply type in a prompt in the Gemini chatbox, make it as specific as possible, wait for a few seconds, and you get to download your personalized photo.

Nano Banana can be accessed for free through the Gemini or Google AI Studio websites.
