Eastwood City illuminates the holidays with ‘A Season of Light’ celebration

Published Nov 24, 2025 2:30 pm

Eastwood City welcomed the holidays with “A Season of Light: Eastwood Holiday Art Walk,” transforming the township into a radiant, open-air gallery where creativity and community take center stage.

The celebration also marked the official opening of the newly revitalized Eastwood Mall Open Park—now envisioned as a shared outdoor space designed for immersive experiences.

The launch was led by 3rd District Quezon City Councilor Hon. Wency Lagumbay, Megaworld Lifestyle Malls Head Graham Coates, Megaworld Lifestyle Malls Cluster General Manager Tyrone Tan, Eastwood City General Manager Kux Quiogue, and featured artists Olivia d’Aboville and Mikayla Teodoro, along with singer Julie Anne San Jose.

“The Season of Light is more than a celebration; it is a reflection of Eastwood City as a community where creativity, culture, and togetherness shine brightly,” said Coates.

“Through the artistry of Olivia, Mikayla, and Teddy, we invite our guests to experience the wonder of the holidays in ways that inspire joy, connection, and a renewed appreciation for the Filipino spirit.”

This year’s showcase spotlights three visionary artists whose installations reimagine Eastwood City as a luminous landscape of culture, creativity, and meaning.

Sustainable art that glows with hope

In partnership with The Art House, French-Filipino artist Olivia d’Aboville brings her internationally acclaimed Giant Dandelions to the Eastwood Mall Open Park—towering light sculptures made from more than 10,000 recycled water bottles.

Renowned for her textile work and environmental advocacy, d’Aboville transforms discarded materials into glowing forms that reflect resilience, renewal, and the power of sustainable design.

Her light show spectacle runs every hour from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. until Dec. 30.

“Everybody interacts with the flowers. They go around, they walk in between the stems, and they feel curious—they are attracted because it catches the light even though it’s made from plastic bottles,” d’Aboville shared. “It really sparks joy, and it brings people together.”

Holiday moments told through sculptural stories

Puppet, set designer, and visual artist Mikayla Teodoro introduces Between the Stars, a series of narrative vignettes inspired by Filipino traditions and the small, quiet moments that make the holidays meaningful.

The sculptural scenes—Lolo at Apo sa Dagat ng mga Bituin, Kundiman sa Buwan, Sila Mingming, Brownie, at ang mga Tala, and the culminating Tree of Dreams—celebrate family, romance, companionship, and the wishes we carry into a new year.

“For all the installations I’ve created, I wanted to highlight the true meaning of Christmas,” Teodoro said. “In between all of the stars and lights, what matters most is the connections you make with one another.”

A suspended garden that envelops the senses

Renowned event stylist and creative director Teddy Manuel elevates the Eastwood Mall Atrium with Bigger Than Life, a suspended garden of oversized blooms crafted from layered fabrics in vivid holiday hues.

Interwoven with glowing golden spheres and fluid green forms, the installation blends floral artistry, architectural scale, and digital inspiration to form a soaring canopy of color and light.

Manuel’s piece captures transformation, abundance, and the season’s festive energy.

A night of performances and ongoing festivities

Adding to the evening’s magic, Kapuso star Julie Anne San Jose serenaded guests with her renditions of timeless holiday classics.

The celebrations continue throughout the season with a lineup of interactive and family-friendly activities:

  • Christmas in Color – guided art workshops for families and young creators
  • Soulful Strings – intimate busking sessions featuring live instrumental performances
  • Christmas Paw-rade – a holiday costume showcase for pets and their humans
