Gigi and Bella Hadid welcome secret half-sister into the family
The Hadid family just grew with a surprising revelation: Gigi and Bella now share that they have a secret half-sister, Aydan Nix, who was discovered after she took a genetic test.
In a statement to The Daily Mail, the celebrity sisters confirmed the news that they have a 23-year-old sibling from their father Mohamed Hadid’s "brief relationship" with a woman named Terri Hatfield Dull during his younger days.
"Over 20 years ago, our dad, while single, had a brief relationship that led to a pregnancy. Aydan was born and raised in Florida, growing up with the man she lovingly knew as her father until his sudden passing when she was 19," Gigi and Bella said.
Aydan then decided to take a genetic test "out of curiosity," and that's when she discovered that she was actually related to the Hadid family.
"We first connected in late 2023, and from that moment on, we’ve embraced Aydan with open arms. She’s spent time with all of us, including our dad, and we’ve cherished this unexpected and beautiful addition to our family," Gigi and Bella said.
The pair highlighted how they have had many "open and loving conversations" about how to "support and protect" their half-sister.
"Aydan and her family value their privacy, and we fully respect that. We kindly ask others to do the same and honor her wish and right to her anonymity as she continues her life as a young woman in New York," they stressed.
According to the news outlet, Mohamed "always knew about Aydan but has not provided financial support." However, a source claimed that there was "mutual respect" between them "but there's also discretion."
Gigi and Bella, along with their brother Anwar, are the children of Mohamed and his former partner Yolanda Hadid.
Aside from Aydan, Gigi and Bella also have two older paternal half-sisters Marielle and Alana from their father's first marriage to a woman named Mary Butler.
