Angeline Quinto opens up about being adopted for P10,000: 'Yun lang ba 'yung halaga ko?'
Angeline Quinto revealed that she was adopted for only P10,000.
In an interview with talent manager Ogie Diaz, the singer-actress shared that she felt hurt upon finding out that she was sold by her biological mother, Nanay Susan, to her adoptive Mama Bob for just thousands of pesos.
“'Yun lang ba 'yung halaga ko?" she recalled. "Pero kasi 'pag naririnig ko 'yung ganyang nangyari sa buhay ko, parang pinasasalamat ko na lang din kasi kung hindi dahil kay Mama Bob, baka hindi ako buhay ngayon."
Quinto added that she was supposed to be aborted by her Nanay Susan because she had a scheduled out-of-the-country trip. Her Mama Bob, however, stopped her biological parent from doing it.
“Kasi noong time po na buntis siya sa akin at dinadala niya ako, gusto niya po mag-Japan so hindi natuloy dahil nga nabuo ako. So 'yun 'yung parang gusto niyang gawin—parang 'yun 'yung magiging sagot para daw matuloy 'yung pag-Ja-Japan. Eh nalaman ng Mama Bob, pinigilan niya," she recalled.
"Ako 'yung swerte dahil si Mama Bob 'yung naging nanay ko kasi hindi naman po alam ng lahat na binalak ako ipa-abort ng biological mother ko at si Mama Bob 'yung nagligtas sa akin," she continued.
Quinto stayed with Mama Bob until the latter died in 2020.
When the local star and her Nanay Susan met 15 years ago, the latter admitted that it's true that she sold her for P10,000, but clarified she only had to do it due to the many problems she was already dealing with. “Hindi sila okay ng tatay ko kaya ako ibinigay kay Mama Bob,” Quinto added.
The local personality noted that all is well between her and her biological mom now.
Quinto is known for the songs Kunin Mo Na Ang Lahat Sa Akin, At Ang Hirap, and Piliin Mo Ang Pilipinas. She's also an actress—her most recent acting role is in Ang Happy Homes ni Diane Hilario, which was released in cinemas on Dec. 3.
She married her non-showbiz partner in April 2024. They now have two children.
