Ed Sheeran shares plans for the album to be released after his death
Ed Sheeran reveals more details about Eject, the album he plans to release only after his death.
In an interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe on Sept. 10, the 34-year-old singer shared that the album is in his will, with his wife Cherry Seaborn curating the 10-song tracklist. It will feature music Sheeran has written throughout his career, starting from when he was 18.
"I've always wanted to leave something behind that people would find interesting,” Sheeran said in the interview. “Some won't like the idea, but others will see it as a unique piece of who I am."
He continued, “You know how posthumous albums come out, but they're sort of unplanned. I don’t want people to just jumble up stuff and put it out. I want it to be planned."
In 2023, the Shape of You singer told Rolling Stone about the project. "I want to slowly make this album that is 'perfect' for the rest of my life, adding songs here and there," he said.
Sheeran also said in March this year, during an interview on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, that he already had an idea for 10 albums when he was 18: “It’s Plus, Multiply, Divide, Subtract, Equals, and then Play, Pause, Fast Forward, Rewind, and Stop.” He was inspired by the filmmaker Quentin Tarantino, who also plans to release only ten feature films in the span of his career. Eject may follow Stop, though Sheeran said he may also still create music outside of that sequence.
Play, Sheeran’s latest album, was released on Sept. 12.
He came to Manila in 2024 for his Mathematics tour, where he performed Maybe The Night with Ben&Ben.
