Rapper Poorstacy dies at 26

Rising rapper Poorstacy has died at the age of 26. 

The Boca Raton Police Department confirmed to PEOPLE Magazine on Tuesday, Dec. 2, that the Florida artist—whose real name is Carlito Milfort Jr.—died last Nov. 29.

Authorities did not provide other details, including the cause of his death.

According to police, they were called to a hotel in Boca Raton before Poorstacy was taken to a nearby hospital following a medical emergency.

He was reportedly checked in at the hotel for 10 days with a woman and a toddler.

Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker, one of the musician's collaborators on the 2020 tracks Choose Life and Nothing Left, paid tribute to Poorstacy after hearing the news.

"Rest in peace. You'll never be forgotten," he wrote in an Instagram story with a broken heart emoji along with a video of them performing onstage.

Bring Me the Horizon frontman Oli Sykes also paid tribute to his close friend on his Instagram Stories, sharing a photo with the caption: "R.I.P" with a black heart emoji.

Poorstacy was known for a mix of genres such as emo rap, punk rock, and heavy metal. He was featured on the Bill & Ted Face the Music movie soundtrack in 2020.
