Miss Universe affirms four official stages of competition
The Miss Universe Organization reasserted that there are only four stages of evaluation for the competition.
In an official statement dated Nov. 3, organization president Raúl Rocha Cantú warmly welcomed the multinational delegates.
“You are the pride of your nations, and the living symbol of what Miss Universe represents, women of strength, purpose, and inspiration."
He then enumerated the stages of evaluation for the premier beauty pageant, namely, personal interview, national costume, evening gown, and swimsuit competitions.
“These are the only moments that will be considered by the official judges in determining the outcome of the competition,” Cantú said.
“No delegate will receive any form of preference or advantage outside of these four official categories. The integrity of this process is absolute and will be upheld with the utmost professionalism," the statement read.
The announcement came after Miss Universe Thailand's social media pages posted about a “Special Dinner & Talk Show,” where netizens were asked to vote via Facebook and Instagram reactions and shares.
MUO has released an earlier statement debunking the event claim, saying the activity "is not authorized."
The 74th Miss Universe pageant coronation will happen on Nov. 21 with Ahtisa Manalo representing the Philippines.
