Russell Brand has got something to say about the rumored sparks flying between ex-wife Katy Perry and Canada's former prime minister Justin Trudeau.

In an appearance at a Turning Point USA event on Thursday, the actor reportedly threw some shade at his former lover and the politician.

Brand, who was married to Perry from 2010 to 2012, said: “Look, Katy Perry, I was married to her. I love her still, and I’m glad that her mom’s in the room to hear me say this, but look. I was okay with Orlando Bloom, but Justin Trudeau? Come on, man! Don’t put me in a category with that guy! That globalist stooge.”

Perry was previously engaged to actor Orlando Bloom, following a proposal in 2019. However, the pair reportedly called off their engagement in June 2025. The former couple continues to co-parent their daughter, Daisy Dove, whom they welcomed back in August 2020.

According to a source, Perry and Bloom "have been suffering through the same problems that have plagued them for years."

"[They had] too much going on in their lives, which makes it hard to find time for each other and iron out disagreements. When they don’t communicate properly, their relationship dips to a low level,” the source added.

Meanwhile, relationship rumors surrounding Perry and Trudeau first began circulating a month after, following a public outing in Montreal. An insider told People they shared an "instant connection."

"They are interested in each other, but it will take a while to see where this goes,” a source said. “She is traveling around the world, and he is figuring out his life now that he is no longer prime minister of Canada, but there is an attraction. They have a lot in common.”

The pair officially stepped into the spotlight as a couple in October 2025 at a birthday cabaret celebration at the Crazy Horse Paris.

They also made their relationship Instagram-official with photos and videos from their trip to Japan.
