Social media users react to Miss International 2025 results: 'Philippines will bounce back stronger'
The Miss International 2025 pageant ended on a high note with Catalina Duque of Colombia winning the crown.
During the pageant's coronation night on Nov. 27 in Tokyo, Japan, Duque bested 79 other aspirants to succeed the reign of last year's winner, Huỳnh Thị Thanh Thủy of Vietnam.
She was followed by Zimbabwe's Yollanda Chimbarami as first runner-up, Bolivia's Paola Guzmán as second runner-up, Indonesia's Melliza Xaviera Yulian as third runner-up, and the Philippines' Myrna Esguerra as fourth runner-up.
On social media, Filipino pageant fans quickly shared their thoughts on the results, highlighting that Esguerra still delivered a performance worthy of praise despite her loss.
"Woohooo! Fourth runner-up! Congrats Mareng Myrna! You made us all proud!" one user wrote.
"Congratulations, our Myrna! I am so inspired with your story, and I'm sure there are many others too. Thank you for standing up for your family and for the Philippines as well!" another said.
While some users shared their disappointment, they nevertheless acknowledged that Duque was deserving of the crown.
"Deserved din talaga ni Colombia ang title sa final Q&A niya. Congrats and so proud din sa pambato natin na si Myrna, inilaban hanggang dulo. Philippines will bounce back stronger next year," one fan said.
However, others were rooting for Chimbarami as well and noted how she could have secured a breakthrough moment for her country.
"Another black beauty has been robbed of her crown once again. Justice for Zimbabwe," one user lamented.
Another said, "OMG Miss International is still keeping black women in the first runner-up title. I mean, Colombia's deserving too, but Zimbabwe could have been a game changer to this pageant."
The Philippines has won six Miss International crowns so far: Gemma Cruz in 1964, Aurora Pijuan in 1970, Melanie Marquez in 1979, Lara Quigaman in 2005, Bea Santiago in 2013, and Kylie Verzosa in 2016.
