Malacañang has named Atty. Anna Liza Logan as the new chief presidential legal counsel.

In a press briefing, Palace press officer Claire Castro said that President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has now appointed seven officials under the Office of the Executive Secretary.

One of whom is Logan, who previously held the position of Deputy Executive Secretary for Legal Affairs of the Office of the President.

Other officials who were appointed include:

  • Maria Luwalhati Dorotan Tiuseco as Senior Deputy Executive Secretary
  • Danielle Marie Rieza-Culangen as Deputy Executive Secretary for General Administration
  • Joseph Irvin Obenza as Deputy Executive Secretary for Financial Affairs
  • Jesse Hermogenes Andres as Deputy Executive Secretary for Legal Affairs
  • Erwin Sta. Ana as Undersecretary for Economic Affairs
  • Alemar Mosquito as Assistant Secretary

As a lawyer, Logan's expertise lies in Civil and Criminal Litigation, Family, Labor and Human Settlements Adjudication Commission Cases, and Corporate and Commercial practice for financial technology companies, real estate development entities, and non-governmental organizations. She worked with law firms Logan Masukat Ronulo Huang, Marcos Ochoa Serapio and Tan (wherein First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos is a founding partner), and Agabin Verzola Hermoso Layaoen & De Castro.

She also previously served as one of the directors of the board of the Philippine National Railways.

In July, she was among the 17 applicants who applied to be the next Ombudsman, a position that eventually went to former Justice Secretary Crispin Remulla.

With her appointment in the new role, Logan now replaces the late Juan Ponce Enrile, who passed away in November at the age of 101.
