Relic of Carlo Acutis to be brought to PH in November
The pilgrim relic of Carlo Acutis, who will be canonized as the first millennial saint on Sept. 7, will be brought to the Philippines later in the year.
The Friends of Blessed Carlo Acutis - Philippines announced that the British-born Italian's pericardium, the membrane surrounding and protecting the heart, will be in the country from Nov. 28 to Dec. 15, according to a CBCP News report.
“This historic visit is a moment of renewal and celebration for the Filipino Church, especially for our youth and families, who are invited to encounter the witness of the young saint who reminds us that the Eucharist is truly our ‘highway to Heaven,’” the group said.
The pilgrimage will be carried out under the guidance of Bishop Dennis Villarojo of Malolos.
In June, Pope Leo XIV announced that Acutis would be made a saint on Sept. 8. The millennial, sometimes referred to as "God's influencer," died from leukemia in 2006 at the age of 15. He learned several computer coding languages before his death and built websites to spread his faith.
Acutis is also credited with the healing of a 4-year-old Brazilian boy with a serious pancreatic malformation and of a 21-year-old Costa Rican woman who was near death after a bicycle accident.
The parents of both individuals had prayed to Acutis for help, Church authorities said.
