MGEN employees plant over 74,000 native trees and mangroves across the Philippines in 2025
Meralco PowerGen Corporation has strengthened its commitment to growing more green spaces through its 2025 tree-planting initiatives, culminating in the planting of over 74,600 native and fruit-bearing trees, as well as mangroves, across six provinces in 25.86 hectares of designated plantation areas.
These efforts were made possible through the work of MGEN’s thermal and renewable energy arms, together with local government units, community groups, and partner organizations such as the One Meralco Foundation’s One for Trees program, where MGEN continues to contribute to expanded reforestation efforts. With 443 employee-volunteers mobilized nationwide, the program brought people together to rehabilitate planting areas and support their long-term growth.

MGEN’s annual tree-planting initiatives form part of its continued efforts to help improve the places where it operates. These efforts also sit alongside the company’s broader work to shape the future of energy through a growing portfolio of diversified power solutions across the Philippines and Southeast Asia, from baseload and liquefied natural gas to solar and battery energy storage projects.
Beyond the scale of trees planted, this year’s activities emphasized planting species that can thrive in their specific environments. The mix of native forest trees, fruit-bearing varieties, and mangroves supports both site rehabilitation and livelihood opportunities for surrounding communities.
Through its continued efforts, MGEN aims to power a better tomorrow by supporting healthier ecosystems, protecting biodiversity, and contributing to a more sustainable future for the areas it serves.
