LIST: Art spaces to visit near LRT and MRT stations during free train rides season

The Department of Transportation's 12 days of free rides on LRT-1, LRT-2, and MRT-3 for various sectors have begun.

Kapitolyo Art Space

Kapitolyo Art Space is hosting its biggest year-end exhibit, “Projekt Kapitolyo,” featuring 100+ artists coming together to celebrate creativity from Dec. 13 until Jan. 3, 2026.

With just one jeepney ride from MRT Shaw Boulevard Station or MRT Boni Station, you can enjoy a diverse showcase of artistry from pioneer rice and multimedia artist Hermisanto and more.

Located in the same space, Kapitolyo Art Market is hosting “Create and Celebrate” on Dec. 14, inviting guests to join workshops for watercolor postcards, candle making, fabric ornaments, plus a charming Holiday Art Market.  

Kapitolyo Art Space is located at 23 West Capitol Drive, Kapitolyo, Pasig City. It's open daily from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Gateway Gallery

 Gateway Gallery unveiled its new contemporary art exhibit, “United Diversity 3: Solstice,” featuring works from 45+ artists across various styles and mediums. 

Located at the topmost floor of Gateway Mall 1, it’s easily accessible from MRT-3 Cubao Station and LRT-2 Araneta Center–Cubao Station.  

The exhibit also highlights works from special guest artists Karlo Domingo and Resty Cagayat, as well as selected pieces from late art masters Kit Ello and Loreto Racuya. 

Catch the works until Dec. 20 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Gateway Gallery is located on level 5 of the Gateway Tower.

Just a few steps away from MRT-3 Ayala Station, you’ll find two exhibits waiting at Greenbelt 5’s Art Camp Gallery. 

Featured here is “Biophilia” by Dante Eñage, which encourages viewers to see the beauty of nature as a reminder of our shared responsibility to the environment.  

Alongside is “Sugar Rush,” a group exhibition by Mayi Peñaflorida, Marky Barredo, Inad Oronos, Brian Yabut, Kapitan, Lewis Salvador, and Lee Salvador, exploring the energetic world of contemporary pop, surrealism, and nouveau figuration.  

 The exhibits are on view until Dec. 16.

Art Camp Gallery is located on the third floor of Greenbelt 5 in Makati City.

Roja Galerie 

Before the year ends, Rojo Galerie is hosting its year-end celebration of art and creativity through Art Bar 2025, running until Dec. 31.

With a ride from MRT-3 Ortigas Station or MRT-3 Shaw Boulevard Station, you can explore works from artists who became part of Rojo Galerie’s 2025 lineup, which art pieces are crafted from resilience, perseverance, and inspiration. 

Rob Galerie is located at Robins Design Center on Meralco Ave., Pasig City.

Museo Pambata

Celebrate art and creativity with kids this Dec. 23 as Museo Pambata, which is a few minutes away from the LRT-1 United Nations Station, opens its doors this holiday season.

It’s the perfect spot for families spending a creative Christmas, especially with their Buy 5 Get 1 Free ticket promo on Klook, which includes museum admission plus a storytelling session.

Explore something thought-provoking to end the year at WHYNoT Manila’s “Entangled Transmissions” exhibit, which is just one ride away from MRT-3 Magallanes Station. 

The exhibit features seven video and expanded moving image installations exploring the Filipino body as it navigates migration, ecology, colonization, and labor or sacrifice across local and diasporic spaces. It also reflects on what it means to be a Filipino who constantly shifts between past and future terrains.
