Prosecutors confirm having name linked to 'sorry' bouquet delivered to Valeria Marquez after fatal shooting
Prosecutors said they have a name linked to the person who allegedly bought a bouquet with a "sorry" note for beauty influencer Valeria Marquez days after she was shot to death during a TikTok livestream.
Citing the Jalisco Attorney General's Office, local newspaper El Tiempo reported that the bouquet, described as a "strange floral arrangement," featured roses and was wrapped in black paper. It also came with a "sorry" message.
Authorities found fingerprints on the vase and the bouquet, which are now being analyzed using criminal record databases.
Prosecutor Salvador González de los Santos told Mexican media that the flower shop where the bouquet was purchased had no CCTV, though people in the area recalled seeing someone there following the influencer's murder.
“It seems he went to the place, but there are no cameras on the scene," De Los Santos said.
The delivery man who left the arrangement at the door of the salon where Marquez worked didn't know the person who sent the bouquet.
According to Vanguardia MX, the delivery man said he "worked for a flower shop, so someone else placed the order."
The delivery man noted that his "only task was to drop off the flowers and take some photographs as proof of delivery."
He claimed to have no information about the sender, noting he was simply asked to take a photo of him leaving the bouquet. Officers were prompted to let him go, according to El Tiempo.
Marquez was killed on May 13 at her beauty salon in the city of Zapopan in Mexico. She was 23.
A man entered the salon and shot her, according to the prosecutor, who didn't name a suspect.
Seconds before the incident, Marquez was seen on her TikTok livestream seated at a table clutching a stuffed toy. She was heard saying, "They're coming," before a voice in the background asked, "Hey, Vale?"
Moments later, Marquez was shot to death. A person appeared to pick up her phone, with their face briefly showing on the livestream before the video ended.
During the livestream, Marquez said someone came to the salon when she was not there with an "expensive gift" to deliver to her. Appearing concerned, she said she wasn't planning to wait for the person to come back. (with reports from Reuters)
