Derek Ramsay on his separation from Ellen Adarna: 'Talagang nasaktan ako'
Derek Ramsay opened up about his separation from Ellen Adarna, sharing that he's now "at peace."
In a YouTube vlog, showbiz insider Morly Alinio asked the actor about how the latter's breakup from his wife affected him. "I think everyone knows that, everyone sees that talagang nasaktan ako," said Ramsay.
He, however, opted to keep mum on the details of the issue. "No comment ako out of respect to everyone involved in that situation. I said I'm at peace," he said before taking a pause and getting teary-eyed.
The local star shared that going to the United Kingdom with his daughter Liana and his family during the holidays helped him process things. (In December, Adarna said she allowed Liana to be with Ramsay due to her father-in-law's health condition.)
"Nagpapasalamat talaga ako na nakapunta kami ng UK, kasama ko anak ko, kasama ko mommy and daddy ko, kapatid ko, mga anak niya," he opened up. "It was a very good time to just reflect, take a breather, and start the new year right."
When asked how he is recovering from all the negativity thrown at him, Ramsay said he is holding on to his faith and a healthy support system.
"With good friends, of course, 'yung family ko, they helped me get back to faith. Para siyang reminder, kumatok sa pinto si Lord na 'Uy, nandito ako,'" he shared. "Yeah, I just turn my focus to Him, and kahit anong ingay, kahit anong problema, binigay ko na sa Kanya."
He added that going to church, praying five to six times a day, and being part of a group headed by a priest helped him recover.
"I was lost. Lost talaga ako. During that time, you can easily make wrong decisions," he continued. "Binigyan Niya [God] ako ng lakas to again focus on me, rebuild, reflect, be strong for my parents."
Ramsay admitted that he had made wrong decisions in his married life.
"Madami. Letting your emotions take over you. Siguro, ako ngayon, na-reset ko na 'yung sarili ko," he said. "Lubog ako no'n. Lubog na lubog ako no'n. Parang wala akong gana sa buhay no'n noong mga time na 'yun."
He also shared that during his misunderstanding with Adarna, he went to Indonesia for yoga therapy and stayed in Japan for two weeks.
When repeatedly pressed to give details on his fallout with Adarna, Ramsay said, "Ayoko nang pag-usapan 'yan, I just want to move on with my life, and really focus on my mom and my dad, my daughter. Ang daming battles eh. You just have to choose your battles."
Ramsay and Adarna were heavily in the news in December due to their marital woes, with the latter sharing "receipts" on social media of Ramsay's alleged cheating. She also shared several audio recordings of him allegedly cursing at her, saying she did it because she didn't want to enable his abusive behavior.
Before this, the two became the subject of breakup speculations for months. They started when eagle-eyed social media users noticed that they hadn't been posting photos of them together online. The split rumors were fueled when Ellen dropped "Ramsay" from her Instagram profile in October.
The pair tied the knot in November 2021 in Bagac, Bataan, and got married again in a Peruvian despacho ceremony led by a local shaman during their first anniversary. They welcomed Liana in October 2024.
