Everything you need to know about the new 'Elevated Promenade' in Quezon City
Ready to take your city strolls to new heights? There's a new hangout spot in Quezon City where you can enjoy city views while being surrounded by lush greenery.
The Quezon City local government has officially opened its newest attraction, the "Elevated Landscape Promenade," along Elliptical Road.
The elevated walkway serves as a bridge between Quezon Memorial Circle and Ninoy Aquino Parks and Wildlife Center, making it easier for pedestrians to avoid street traffic and explore the two of the city's largest green spaces.
The space is not only for pedestrians, as it is also built with cyclists in mind. Bike ramps for bikers and seats and benches for pedestrians are installed in the walkway.
The local government has also partnered with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources to make the walkway as environmentally friendly and sustainable as possible, featuring vibrant plants and green landscaping.
"Its landscape design showcases lush plantings, ambient lighting, and intricate paving patterns, all centered around a striking sculptural pergola that provides shade and a perfect spot to pause and enjoy the city views — both during the day and at night," the Quezon City Parks Development and Administration Department stated.
"This project fosters a seamless connection of green open spaces, promoting leisure, wellness, and environmental sustainability for the benefit of park-goers, commuters, and QCitizens," it added.
In an Instagram video by Mayor Joy Belmonte, city architect Baltazar Avelino teased that the space will be more lush and verdant in the future.
"Sa ngayon, pinapa-establish muna natin 'yung mga halaman. It will be really green, everything will crawl with green. And then, ang ganda po ng ambience dito sa taas, maganda po pang date," he highlighted.
"Sa mga susunod na buwan, mas magbubunga ang ating mga halaman, at mas magiging luntian pa ang ating tulay," Belmonte added.
The promenade was designed by the Quezon City Government's City Architect Department and constructed by the City Engineering Department.
