Road in Bukidnon collapses after landslide
Portions of the Bukidnon-Davao City Road collapsed on Oct. 18 evening, prompting its temporary closure.
The Department of Public Works and Highways said that it has already mobilized teams to assess the damaged road in Palacapao, Quezon in Bukidnon.
All lanes were declared not passable for the safety of residents.
The local government said in an update in Bisaya as translated by Google, that a bao-bao tricycle was found covered in the landslide. Authorities, including the Quezon MPSO-Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, Philippine Army, Philippine National Police, Bureau of Fire Protection, and more, are searching for the two individuals on board.
According to estimates from the Municipal Public Safety Office, the collapsed section of the road is about 100m. The area affected by the landslide was also about 100m deep.
The DPWH has advised motorists to take the following alternate routes:
- From Cagayan de Oro City to Tagum City: Junction Sayre Highway Poblacion Valencia City, Bukidnon via Kapalong - Talaingod - Valencia
- From Camp 1 Maramag, Bukidnon to Davao City: Via Jct. Bukidnon- Davao City Road to Cotabato Boundary - Carmen-Kabacan-Matalam-Kidapawan, Cotabato-Digos City, Davao
"Clearing and assessment are ongoing. Traffic signage [and] barriers are also in place to guide motorists," DPWH Region 10 - Northern Mindanao said in an update.
The Bukidnon Davao City Road is a two-to-four lane 140km highway.
