Toddler survives on junk food after getting stuck with dead mother in their home for days
A 2-year-old was able to survive on junk food alone for several days after his 28-year-old mom died in their home.
South China Morning Post reported on Sept. 21 that the mother named Zheng Yu was found lifeless inside their residence located in Cangnan county, Wenzhou, Zhejiang province, China.
Her son, nicknamed Mianmian, was seen wearing a short-sleeved shirt and soiled diaper, covered in grime. According to police, the toddler ate snacks, jellies, a pumpkin, and herbal tea, which he found on their bed.
He was unharmed, as shown in his medical tests.
Zheng's friend alerted authorities in mid-August and asked them to check on her after she wasn't able to contact her for days.
Per the media outlet, Zheng was a single mother who had three kids from three different relationships. Two of them are with their fathers, while Mianmian stayed with his mother.
Mianmian's dad recalled meeting Zheng online. They welcomed their son in February 2023, but things didn't work out between the couple and Zheng later blocked him on social media. He is now taking care of Mianmian.
It's unclear what caused Zheng's death as of writing.
According to the SCMP, her loved ones believe she died from a sudden illness. It was revealed in social media posts that she had health problems. In some videos shared online, she can be seen getting injections and talking about her blood pressure and blood sugar levels.
