The Bondi Beach shooters have seldom left their hotel rooms in Davao City during their Philippine visit, according to a hotel staff.

According to a report by MindaNews, suspects Sajid, 50, and Naveed Akram, 24, arrived at the GV Hotel at noon on Nov. 1.

“The longest that they would be outside would be around an hour, and they would be just back here in the hotel,” Jenelyn Sayson of GV Hotel told the outlet.

Another staff member told CBS News that the two extended their stay every week and paid in cash. They would go out during the day and would return at night, often with food to eat in their room.

He added that there was nothing especially unusual about the father and son, who were traveling with just one suitcase and one backpack.

On Monday, Dec. 15, the gunmen opened fire using long-barrelled guns during a Jewish gathering at Bondi Beach, killing 15, including a 10-year-old girl.

The two were caught on video standing on a pedestrian bridge, shooting at the revelers who were offscreen. At one point, Naveed could be seen waving away bystanders and reloading his weapon.

Sajid, an Indian native, was shot dead by police at the scene. His son Naveed, who holds an Australian passport, was also shot and is in critical condition in the hospital. Sources have told Australian media, however, that he is showing signs of recovery.

Naveed has been charged with 59 offences, including 15 counts of murder and terrorism.

The Bureau of Immigration on Tuesday, Dec. 16, confirmed reports that the two stayed in the Philippines for almost a month, arriving from Sydney, Australia, on Nov. 1 and leaving the Philippines on Nov. 28.

The BI spokesperson said that the shooters then took a connecting flight from Davao to Manila with Sydney as their final stop.
