An Italian model was found dead after being stabbed 24 times by her ex-partner, according to reports.
29-year-old model Pamela Genini was allegedly stabbed to death by her ex-boyfriend, Gianluca Soncin, 52, on Tuesday, Oct. 14, on a terrace of an apartment in Gorla, Milan.
After hearing Genini's cries for help, neighbors attempted to break into the apartment and called the police. As authorities arrived, Soncin tried to commit suicide, stabbing himself twice in the throat, according to local media outlets Il Fatto Quotidiano and Il Giorno.
According to a report by Il Fatto Quotidiano, Genini was on a phone with her other ex-partner when she found Soncin inside her apartment.
Soncin allegedly used a duplicate key he had copied weeks before breaking into the apartment. The model sustained injuries "to the neck, back, chest, upper limbs, and hands, with 24 stabs," Milan prosecutor Alessia Menegazzo claimed.
Despite their rocky relationship, ANSA reported that Genini and Soncin were still a couple, though Genini was reportedly planning to break up with Soncin.
The prosecutor also noted that evidence and testimonies from people who knew the victim established a pattern of stalking, physical abuse, and threats by Soncin.
The suspect is being treated at Milan's Niguarda hospital and is not in a life-threatening condition. He is reportedly under custody on charges of aggravated homicide.
