Parts of North Avenue in Quezon City will be temporarily closed for about two months due to construction works for the MRT-7, according to the Department of Transportation.

In a statement on Facebook, the DOTr said the lane of North Avenue going to Elliptical Road will be closed for 24 hours a day from Sept. 24 to Nov. 30 to facilitate the excavation works for the pedestrian tunnel of the Quezon Memorial Circle Station.

"We sincerely ask for the public’s cooperation and understanding for this temporary inconvenience, as we work toward delivering a modern, efficient, and comfortable public transport system for all Filipino commuters," the agency said.

"Salamat po sa pang-unawa," it added.

The DOTr asked motorists and commuters to take alternative routes and consult the graphics below.

The MRT-7, which would start in North Avenue in Quezon City and end in San Jose Del Monte in Bulacan, is expected to be open in 2027.

The 14-station MRT-7 includes the following stops:

  • North Avenue
  • Quezon Memorial Circle
  • University Avenue
  • Tandang Sora
  • Don Antonio
  • Batasan
  • Manggahan
  • Dona Carmen
  • Regalado
  • Mindanao Avenue
  • Quirino Avenue
  • Sacred Heart
  • Tala
  • San Jose del Monte

Then-DOTr Sec. Vince Dizon estimated that the full line will be fully operational by 2029. Last June, he said the MRT-7 is 83% complete already.

The MRT-7 opening has been delayed several times, with its developer, San Miguel Corporation, citing mostly right-of-way issues.

In 2024, the DOTr said the MRT-7 would be operational by the last quarter of 2025. But last April, the SMC said it's by 2026.
