LTO warns of lifetime license revocation for drivers who engage in road rage
LTO chief Markus Lacanilao warned individuals who engage in road rage that they could revoke their driver's licenses permanently.
In a press briefing on Wednesday, Oct. 22, Lacanilao referred to road rage as a long-standing problem that has resulted in many imprisonments and lives lost.
"Ito ang mahigpit kong paalala sa mga motorista," he told the media. "Matagal na nating naging problema ito noong araw pa. Kami sa LTO, maghihigpit kami. Once na na-involve kayo sa road rage, ang rekomendasyon namin ay mawalan kayo ng lisensya panghabambuhay."
He stressed that motorists should think twice before they get involved in an altercation on the road.
"May kauulang parusa ang aabutin ninyo," Lacanilao said.
The recommendation came after separate viral incidents of road rage, including a tricycle driver who hurt a minor in Tarlac, a gun-toting motorist in Laguna, and a motorist who beat up an elderly bus driver in Cavite.
