Man reports wife to police for accusing him of cheating after fortune telling session
A man ended up reporting his wife to authorities after the latter accused him of cheating on her based solely on a fortune teller's prediction.
South China Morning Post reported that the Chinese woman paid 500 yuan (over P4,000) for an online session with a fortune teller, who told her that her husband visited prostitutes and checked into hotels with other women.
The woman easily believed what the fortune teller said and went on to accuse her husband of infidelity despite having no proof.
Noticing it was getting out of hand, the man reported the matter to the police to clear his name. He also claimed that his wife had been "obsessed" with the fortune teller.
"She’s been calling this fortune-teller since early morning," he's quoted as saying. "I told her I can’t take it anymore. Life like this is simply unbearable."
Citing authorities, SCMP reported that the woman didn't disclose why she decided to seek the services of the fortune teller and what pushed her to believe the latter's predictions fully.
"Having already paid, she believed the fortune teller's interpretation must be accurate,” said Zhai Xingyu, a police officer from the Guandoi Police Station under the Jiujiang Branch of the Wuhu Public Security Bureau.
