Christmas kicks off at Robinsons Starmills: Home of the Giant Lantern Festival

Christmas season in the Philippines is never complete without the dazzling glow of lanterns. And nowhere does this tradition shine the brightest than in San Fernando, Pampanga, where the world-renowned Giant Lantern Festival is celebrated every year.
The countdown to the country’s favorite season began when Robinsons Land Corporation’s lifestyle center in Pampanga, Robinsons Starmills, kicked off the holiday tradition on Sept. 4. Robinsons Starmills is again the official partner of the 2025 Giant Lantern Festival, continuing more than 17 years of partnership with the esteemed institution.
The festivities opened with a Memorandum of Agreement signing to reaffirm the strong partnership behind the event. It was followed by the launch of the 100 Days Countdown to the Giant Lantern Festival, setting the stage for a season filled with lights, culture, and history.
To mark the occasion, Robinsons Starmills lit up its 35-foot Pampanga lantern-inspired Christmas tree, adorned with vibrant parols and a grand giant lantern display, paying homage to San Fernando’s reputation as the Christmas Capital of the Philippines.
The celebration also extends to the community, as Robinsons Starmills donates to the City of San Fernando, Pampanga in support of Hon. Mayor Vilma B. Caluag’s “One Tablet, One Student” program. This meaningful initiative is held in line with the 45th anniversary of Robinsons Land Corporation, blending tradition with a commitment to support future generations.
As the festivities unfold, mallgoers can enjoy early holiday shopping with huge discounts at Lacoste, GUESS, Mango Outlet, and Digimap; indulge in comforting meals at Cabalen, Takoyadon, Zus Coffee, Kenny Rogers, and Bo’s Coffee; or spend family time at Robinsons Movieworld, I Sports, and Kidzooona.
All eyes then turn to the Giant Lantern Festival competition on December 13, where 10 barangays will once again light up the night sky with spectacular 20-foot lanterns. The holiday magic continues with the Giant Lantern Display and Exhibition from December 14, 2025 to January 1, 2026.
