Charlie Kirk's wife on why she's choosing to forgive her husband's killer
Charlie Kirk's wife said she forgives the gunman who fatally shot her husband to death.
During the conservative activist's memorial in Glendale, Arizona, Erika Kirk opened up about how her late partner "wanted to save young men, just like the one who took his life."
"On the cross, our savior said: ‘Father, forgive them for they not know what they do.’ That man, that young man, I forgive him. I forgive him because it was what Christ did and it is what Charlie would do," she said.
Erika stressed that the answer to hate "is not hate."
"The answer we know from the gospel is love and always love, love for our enemies and love for those who persecute us," she continued.
Charlie's memorial took place at State Farm Stadium on Sept. 21.
The known ally of US President Donald Trump was shot dead on Sept. 10 at Utah Valley University in Orem. He was 31.
22-year-old Tyler Robinson is accused of firing the shot from a rooftop. In one of his alleged leaked messages to his roommate and romantic partner, he appeared to confess to the murder as he “had enough of his hatred.”
Prosecutors are seeking death penalty for Robinson.
