Are motorists with existing Autosweep and Easytrip accounts required to use the new unified RFID system?

Should you now replace your Autosweep and Easytrip stickers with the new "One RFID, All Tollways" sticker?

On Tuesday, Oct. 21, the Department of Transportation began implementing a new unified RFID scheme that allows motorists plying toll expressways to use just one account and one sticker to pass through any of the booths.

It was a multi-group effort made by DOTr and the Toll Regulatory Board, with cooperation from RFID service providers Autosweep and Easytrip.

The new initiative, though, has left some motorists confused. Some are wondering if they are now required to apply for "One RFID, All Tollways" and replace their existing Autosweep and Easytrip stickers.

In the comments section of DOTr's announcement on Facebook, the agency noted that enrollment in One RFID is not mandatory.

"Enrollment to the program is purely optional and you can still keep two separate accounts," it said.

Many social media users also asked about the status of their existing RFID load—will it be transferred automatically once the One RFID account is made?

Easytrip said that in the enrollment process, users with existing Easytrip RFID will be asked for their account details. They will then be given the option to transfer the existing load to their One RFID account or apply for a refund. Autosweep will also provide a refund if requested.

The process will take within three working days. Once completed, the account holder will be notified via their registered email.

For further details, Autosweep account holders may visit its official website or send an email to customercare@autosweeprfid.com.

Those with Easytrip accounts may visit the service provider's official website or email their query to customercare@mptc.com.ph.

For those who want to make the switch, which is free of charge, the DOTr made it clear: "One RFID, one account for all [expressways]." The account will be fully activated in 30 minutes. The One RFID team will send a confirmation email to the address you provide when you register.

For onsite One RFID registration and installation, the DOTr listed the following locations: Tollway Group ETC System Covered Expressways, SMC Tollways Autosweep RFID, Skyway, SLEX, STAR, TPLEX, NAIAx, MCX, MPTC Tollways, Easytrip RFID NLEX, NLEX Connector, SCTEX, CALAX, CAVITEX, and C5 Southlink.

While enrollment in the One RFID program is available to all private vehicles, it isn't yet accessible to those under consolidated or corporate accounts. According to DOTr, the scheme will be available to corporate accounts starting early next year.

According to President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos, the single RFID scheme could help ease the lives of motorists by reducing stress and delays on the road.

"Years of consultation and cooperation with the DOTr and the Toll Regulatory Board have finally led us to a unified system that responds to the real needs of our motorists," he said during the launch. "And true to the spirit of public service, you work hand in hand, not because you needed to but because you wanted to make sure that the travel for all Filipinos is made easier. This is a true Filipino spirit—one of unity, bayanihan and pakikipagkapwa."
