Why autopsy won't be completed on Disneyland guest who died after Haunted Mansion ride

A cause of death won't be revealed for the woman who passed away after riding the Haunted Mansion attraction in Disneyland.

PEOPLE Magazine reported that Matt Sutter, who serves as a public information officer for the Anaheim Police Department, confirmed that since the Orange County Sheriff's Coroner's office didn't take custody of the body after the tragedy, an autopsy won't be performed.

Per the media outlet, Sutter explained that "this likely indicates a doctor signed off on a death certificate and the family made their own arrangements to gain custody of the body."

The Disneyland guest, who was in her 60s, died Monday evening, Oct. 6.

Authorities confirmed the incident, which they said appears to be "an unfortunate medical episode." They, however, refused to share further details "out of respect for the family."

The Haunted Mansion attraction reopened shortly after what happened, with police noting that no operating issue was found with it.
