LOOK: Risa Hontiveros releases 2024 SALN
Sen. Risa Hontiveros has made her 2024 Statement of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth public.
This comes six days after Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla lifted the access restrictions previously imposed by former Office of the Ombudsman chief Samuel Martires during the Duterte administration.
In Hontiveros' SALN, she listed two house-and-lot units and one house as assets, totalling P8,730,000.00. Under her personal properties, she included cash deposits amounting to P3,658,198.21, a 2014 Toyota Innova worth P1,445,000, a 2022 Toyota Fortuner worth P1,932,000, and equity in an installment purchase worth P3,018,900.00.
She also placed a collective value of P550,000 for her furniture, fixtures, and appliances, and another P550,000 for her jewelry and books.
Under her liabilities, Hontiveros listed an outstanding balance of P897,840 for a car loan with Toyota Financial.
In total, Hontiveros has a net worth of P18,986,258.21.
As for her business interests and financial connections, Hontiveros indicated three: Planet Dive, Inc., where she has been a stockholder since 1999; New Rural Bank of San Leonardo (Nueva Ecija, Inc.), where she has been a member since 2010; and wholesaler La Luna Corp, where she has been director since 2002.
Hontiveros also stated that she doesn't have any relatives in the government.
On Oct. 17, lawmakers from the Makabayan bloc released their SALNs "in the spirit of transparency and accountability." They also called for President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. and Vice President Sara Duterte to do the same.
Marcos has said he is open to releasing his SALN.
“We’re just going back to the old procedure. My SALN will be available to whoever would like to begin,” he said. The president assured that his Cabinet would do the same.
The SALN is a sworn statement where a government official discloses their assets, liabilities, net worth, financial connections or business interests, as well as relatives and immediate in-laws serving in the government.
Filing it is mandated by the Constitution (Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees) within 30 days after a government official assumes office, and every year thereafter on or before April 30. They are also required to file their SALN within 30 days after leaving government service.
