GSIS offers 3-month loan payment reprieve for typhoon-hit members, pensioners

Members and pensioners of the Government Service Insurance System who were affected by typhoons Tino and Uwan will now be able to apply for a GSIS Emergency Loan and enjoy a three-month payment grace period.

GSIS made the announcement on its Facebook page, saying payment is not required within the first three months after the granting of the loan. Within the grace period, there will be no added interest; neither will there be a service fee.

The emergency loan term will be for 36 months, and is available nationwide.

In a news release, GSIS said the payment break is being put in place to ease repayment pressure on borrowers who need to rebuild their homes after the onslaught of back-to-back typhoons Tino and Uwan.

“Layunin ng GSIS na maibsan ang pinansyal na pasanain ng mga apektadong miyembro at pensioner habang unti-unting bumabangon mula sa pinsalang dulot ng kalamidad. Sa panahong ito ng pagsubok, nananatiling matatag na katuwang ng mga lingcod-bayan at retirado ang GSIS sa kanilang pagbangon at muling pag-asenso,” GSIS wrote on Facebook.

The schedule of repayment is as follows:

  • For loans made in November 2025, first payment will be on April 10, 2026.
  • For loans made in December 2025, first payment will be on May 10, 2026.
  • For loans made in January 2026, first payment will be on July 10, 2026.
  • For loans made in February 2026, first payment will be on August 10, 2026.

Members and pensioners may apply for GSIS' emergency loan program until Feb. 7, 2026.

Those qualified may apply for the loan either on the GSIS Touch Mobile App or at any GSIS branch nationwide.
