Two Filipino domestic helpers go missing after hike in Hong Kong
Two Filipino domestic helpers have gone missing for more than a week now after they took a hike in Hong Kong, prompting local authorities to seek help from the public in searching for them.
According to a South China Morning Post report, Imee Mahilum Pabuaya, 24, and Aleli Perez Tibay, 33, were last seen on the Lung Mun Country Trail in Tsuen Wan between 4:30 p.m. and 5:00 pm on Oct. 4.
The news outlet detailed that Pabuaya is about 5.1 feet tall with a medium build and was last ween wearing a dark blue denim top, dark blue denim shorts and white shoes.
Tibay meanwhile stands around 5.1 feet tall and has a slim build. She was wearing a light blue long-sleeved top, light blue denim trousers and white shoes before she went missing.
Police surmised that the pair might have gone down the mountain through routes such as the Sam Dip Tam, but there had been no sightings of them until they were eventually reported as missing on Oct. 6 and 8.
Concerned citizens are requested to report any sightings of them in Tsuen Wan, Tai Wo Hau, Lei Muk Shue or Kwai Hing after 5:00 p.m. on Oct. 4 to the Hong Kong Island headquarters’ missing persons investigation unit or the nearest police station.
Pabauya's sister, Irene, has also taken to her Facebook account to share photos of the two women as she appealed for help in locating them.
"Please, if anyone has seen them or has any information about their whereabouts, contact me directly via private message as soon as possible," whe wrote.
"We are extremely worried and just want to make sure they are safe. Any help in sharing this post or spreading the word would be deeply appreciated. Please help us bring them home safely," she added.
The Lung Mun Country Trail is a scenic hiking trail in Hong Kong that stretches to about 4.7 miles. It is a popular trail for backpacking, hiking, and running and takes about two and a half hours to hike.
