Social media influencer Queen Hera has filed a complaint with the National Bureau of Investigation after her daughter was used for explicit material on a pornographic website.

Hera became emotional after a concerned user on Instagram brought to her attention a photo bearing the face of her daughter, Baby Diamond, being sold on a pornographic site for P1,500.

The perpetrators had taken one of Hera's videos with her daughter and digitally removed the content creator from the picture and replaced her with a man's private parts.

The influencer said that she didn't like posting her daughter’s photos on social media and that she only shows her face while eating.

NBI Director Jaime Santiago cautioned the public to be vigilant now that artificial intelligence tools have made child sexual abuse and exploitation more rampant.

“The public should immediately report [explicit materials online] to authorities,” Santiago said.

According to data by the Commission on Human Rights, reported cases of online sexual abuse and exploitation of children surged to 2.7 million in 2023, marking a six-fold rise compared to 2019.

The office detailed that a lot of the cases involved "family members or close relatives," and that many of the child victims no longer want to hold offenders accountable due to trauma and the emotional toll of legal proceedings.

Angelo Tapales, executive director of the Council for the Welfare of Children, previously said that people who use AI to generate explicit materials of children cannot bring themselves to commit the act themselves, so they resort to their knowledge of technology.

“These might be people who don’t have the stomach to touch children, to take nude pictures of children, but out of greed, they have the technical knowledge to create these materials,” Tapales said. (with reports from EJ Macababbad)
