Philippine Airlines unveiled on Saturday its longest and most advanced aircraft yet!
In celebration of its 85th anniversary, PAL showcased the A350-1000 at the Villamor Airbase in Pasay City with a capacity of 382 passengers and can be stationed by 18 cabin crews, including four pilots. It is the first of its kind in Southeast Asia.
According to the aircraft carrier's website, the plane is powered by twin Rolls-Royce Trent XWB-97 turbofan engines and can go as fast as 590 miles per hour.
Its 42 fully-flat seats for business class look like a private hangar with its own sliding door, USB ports, and integrated wireless docks. The business class has a 1-2-1 configuration.
The 24 premium economy seats have wider recliners, comfortable footrests and legrests, and a private mini cocktail table; while its 316 ergonomic seats for economy class have an integrated personal mobile device with USB charging ports, and a 4-way headrest.
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. graced the event, saying the new aircraft is "crucial in strengthening the aviation industry, expanding connectivity, and opening doors to trade, tourism, and investment."
“PAL’s first A350-1000 opens new possibilities for long-distance travel, including routes to North America. This step complements our efforts to modernize the aviation sector and embrace more sustainable practices for the future,” he said.
Marcos also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to upgrading infrastructure, modernizing airports, and enhancing connectivity aimed at propelling the country’s economic growth.
