In a statement on its website, the local flag carrier said it will offer non-stop flights to Sapporo's New Chitose Airport every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday using the Philippine flag carrier’s Airbus A321neo aircraft. The route is set to operate every succeeding winter season from Nov. 24, 2025 to March 27, 2026.
Specifically, flight PR 406 departs Manila starting at 6:30 a.m. and arrives in Sapporo at 12:15 p.m. Flight PR 405 will meanwhile depart Sapporo at 1:15 p.m. and will arrive in Manila at 6:10 p.m.
The aircraft boasts 12 seats in business class and 156 seats in economy class, as well as extensive in-flight entertainment options and Wi-Fi connectivity.
PAL President Richard Nuttall highlighted that the reopening of their direct flights from Manila to Sapporo will help "strengthen both bilateral relations and cultural ties with our Japanese counterparts."
"This route not only provides a convenient travel option for Filipino tourists and overseas workers, but also opens doors for Japanese travelers to explore and experience the Philippines' vibrant culture and warm hospitality," he said.
Sapporo is the capital of Hokkaido, which is located in the northernmost part of Japan's main islands.
The city is renowned for its top-tier ski resorts and the famous Sapporo Snow Festival, where massive ice and snow sculptures take center stage. Travelers can also enjoy a rich mix of cultural experiences and culinary delights that make it a favorite winter destination.
Aside from Sapporo, PAL also offers nonstop flights to other parts of Japan, such as Osaka Kansai, Nagoya, Fukuoka, Tokyo Haneda, and Tokyo Narita.
