WATCH: 'Avatar: The Last Airbender Season 2' teaser introduces Toph
The Gaang is back with more adventures—this time, with a new earthbending member!
Netflix has released the official teaser trailer for the second season of the live-action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender, showing Aang, Katara, Sokka, Prince Zuko, Princess Azula, and more returning as the series enters its next chapter.
The trailer builds excitement when fans are finally introduced to Toph Beifong, a blind Earthbending prodigy who hides a unique fighting style and seismic strength underneath her small stature.
Gordon Cormier, Kiawentiio, Ian Ousley, Dallas Liu, and more will reprise their characters from the first season. Toph will meanwhile be played by Miya Cech, who previously starred in American Horror Story, Arrow, and The Darkest Minds.
According to Netflix's Tudum, the second season will see Aang and his friends regrouping to set off on a mission to convince the elusive Earth King to aid in their battle against fearsome Fire Lord Ozai.
“When we started working on Season 2, we gathered three forces: integrity, hope, and joy,” Executive Producer and Writer Christine Boylan said, per Tudum. “And here we are almost three years later wrapping the end of production with an immensely talented and devoted team that met those ideals and exceeded them. I am eternally grateful to be part of this important, hilarious, action-packed team who is bringing this epic live action story to the world.”
Avatar: The Last Airbender is a reimagining of Nickelodeon's popular animated series of the same name, which ran from 2005 to 2008. It follows the story of the four nations of the world that once "lived in harmony, with the Avatar, master of all four elements, keeping peace between them."
"But everything changed when the Fire Nation attacked and wiped out the Air Nomads, the first step taken by the firebenders towards conquering the world."
The Netflix series premiered in February 2024 and was renewed for a final two seasons, matching the Nickelodeon series' three-season arc.
The second season will premiere in 2026.
