Your daily Wordle habit just got an upgrade as the word game is set to be adapted as a game show on TV with comedian Jimmy Fallon serving as its producer.

According to a report by Deadline, NBC is making a show based on the game and has tapped broadcast journalist Savannah Guthrie to be its host.

Guthrie serves as the main co-anchor of the NBC News morning show Today. Her other works include being a guest host on the game show Jeopardy!.

The project is currently filming in the UK under Fallon's production company Electric Hot Dog, in collaboration with Universal Television Alternative Studio and the New York Times.

The New York Times Company, which acquired Wordle in 2022, had been considering the possibility of a reality show based on the game and chose to partner with Fallon.

The television host previously admitted that he was addicted to the app and even allotted some time in his talk show to play the game in front of his audience.

Wordle was created and developed by the Welsh software engineer Josh Wardle in 2021.

The game has players guessing a secret five-letter word within six tries. Each time they enter a word, the tiles change color to give clues—green means the letter is correct and in the right spot, yellow means it’s in the word but in the wrong position, and gray means it’s not in the word at all.

After its release, Wordle quickly became a massive hit, having been played 5.3 billion times in 2024.
