Sabrina Carpenter will soon step into Wonderland as she takes on dual roles as a producer and star in a musical film inspired by Lewis Carroll’s iconic novel, Alice in Wonderland, under Universal Pictures.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Lorene Scafaria—a notable director who also directed Hustlers and Succession—will write and direct the said musical film, with Marc Platt (La La Land) producing through Marc Platt Productions.

Elysa Koplovitz Dutton will also co-produce the project alongside Scafaria through Alloy Entertainment.

Carpenter and Scafaria have yet to release a statement about the project, but the Manchild singer told Glamour UK in 2023, “I hope I get to do more."

The project marks Carpenter’s biggest studio project to date.

In a 2021 interview with Interview Magazine, Carpenter mentioned that her favorite movie is Alice in Wonderland.

Before stepping into the music industry, the 26-year-old star appeared as Maya Hart in the Disney Channel series Girl Meets World. Carpenter also starred in Netflix teen rom-coms Tall Girl (2019) and Tall Girl 2 (2022), and as Quinn Ackerman in Work It (2020), which she executive produced.

Carpenter is also set to guest star in a one-off Muppet Show special in 2026 to commemorate the original show’s 50th anniversary.

The singer-songwriter is currently on her "Short n’ Sweet Tour," which began in 2024 and will conclude on Nov. 23.
