Ricky Lee is offering an in-person scriptwriting workshop for free. Here's how to register

Attention, budding scriptwriters!

You have until the end of November to sign up for Ricky Lee's free, in-person scriptwriting workshop, which has guided storytellers and filmmakers like Lav Diaz, Dwein Baltazar, Sari Dalena, Jeffrey Jeturian, Bing Lao, Bela Padilla, Agot Isidro, Dustin Celestino, Pepe Diokno, among others in the past.

The National Artist for Film and Broadcast Arts announced that registration is still ongoing in a Facebook post on Tuesday, Nov. 11. 

In the caption, he wrote that the workshop is open to all. "Maski anong edad, kurso, o specialization ay puwedeng mag-apply," he said.

The upcoming event is supported by the Film Academy of the Philippines and will only accept 30 participants per batch.

Batch 30's run will start on Dec. 14 in Quezon City and will run for 10 Sundays. Dates for the following batch are yet to be announced.

Lee is a screenwriter, essayist, and fictionist who has written over 180 screenplays, including the critically acclaimed Himala, Brutal, Moral, Karnal, Josè Rizal, and Anak.

He has won over 70 trophies from different award-giving bodies, including the Cinemanila International Film Festival, Gawad Urian, and Philippine Movie Press Club Star Awards for Television.

He was also a recipient of the University of the Philippines Gawad Plaridel, Gawad Cultural Center of the Philippines, Gawad Dangal ni Balagtas, and Apolinario Mabini Achievement Award.

Lee was conferred the National Artist title in 2022.
