The multi-award-winning film About Us But Not About Us, written and directed by Jun Robles Lana, is set to go on a theatrical run in early 2026, and word of the cast is out.
Reprising their film roles are Romnick Sarmenta as the grieving UP professor Eric, and Elijah Canlas, who portrays Lance, Eric's student.
The psychological drama revolves around Eric and Lance, who share a meal at a BGC restaurant and reminisce about Marcus, Eric's partner, who he lost to suicide. Over the course of their conversation, dark secrets are revealed, differing perspectives cloud memories, and trauma responses emerge.
Tuxqs Rutaquio directs the stage adaptation, which runs from Feb. 14 to March 8, 2026 at the Power Mac Center Spotlight Blackbox Theater, Circuit Makati.

Romnick Sarmenta as Eric

With an acting career spanning nearly five decades in film, TV, and theater, Sarmenta focuses his talents on creating another nuanced portrayal of Eric onstage. For his film role, he won Best Actor at the 2024 Gawad Urian Awards and at the 2023 Metro Manila Summer Film Festival.
He has definitely mastered the transition from teen idol to action star to a powerful, dramatic actor, becoming one of the country's most respected and enduring actors.
Elijah Canlas as Lance

As Lance, Elijah Canlas delivered a critically acclaimed performance in the film, earning him the Jury Prize award at the 1st Summer MMFF Gabi ng Parangal 2023. He rose to international recognition for his career-defining lead role in the 2019 drama Kalel, 15. In addition to acting, Canlas is also a rising hip-hop musician; he writes and performs his own tracks.
Epy Quizon as Marcus

In the film, Sarmenta and Canlas alternately played Marcus, who is central to the story, in flashback scenes. The role now goes to Epy Quizon in the stage adaptation.
A versatile actor, Quizon has passionately run the gamut of roles in Filipino films, including the young Walter Dempster, Jr. in Markova: Comfort Gay, Apolinario Mabini in the historical epic dramas Heneral Luna and Goyo: Ang Batang Heneral. He is excited to be originating the role of Marcus and breathe life into this complex character onstage.
Andoy Ranay alternating as Marcus

Andoy Ranay is both a well-respected director and an established stage actor. He is widely known for his directorial work in mainstream cinema and television, but he finds himself regularly going back to the stage.
For this stage adaptation, he alternates with Epy Quizon as Marcus.
Throughout his career, Ranay has been involved with Dulaang UP, both as a student and an artist, PETA, and Atlantis Productions. He led the cast of 13th of September, which was staged in August in Monaco as the Philippines' official entry to the 18th World Amateur Theatre Festival. Most recently, Ranay appeared in Virgin Labfest's Presidential Suite #2.
Geraldine Malacaman-Villamil and Herbie Go alternating as Dean Dimalanta

Geraldine Malacaman-Villamil has a long list of titular theater roles, including Dulaang UP's Nanay Bangis and Virgin Labfest's Ningas. She is equally proficient on film. Most notably, she played Myra in the 2011 mockumentary Six Degrees of Separation from Lilia Cuntapay. For that role, Malacaman-Villamil won the Best Supporting Actress award at the 2011 Cinema One Originals Digital Film Festival and Cinemalaya’s Republika ng Pipolipinas. Recently, she received the Panalong Aktres at the Puregold CinePanalo Film Festival 2025 for her portrayal of the main character Remy in the short film Uwian.
Herbie Go is an actor, director, and teacher with a strong background in theater. He is one of the founders of the Virgin Labfest, and served as the artistic director of Tanghalang Pilipino from 2002 to 2006. Go holds a degree in Theater Arts from the University of the Philippines, and taught at the Philippine High School for the Arts for over a decade. You may have seen him playing various characters in Dulaang UP’s Climate in Crazie, Mahiwaga St.’s Shooting Stars, and Kolaborador’s Lamay in Malaya.
Noel Rayos, Jack Denzel, and Jao Catarus providing support

Noel Rayos is part of the production as a cover for Eric. He brings to the production a career track of nearly 100 theater productions. He was most memorable in his roles as Carlos in the musical Binondo, Tenyong in Tanghalang Pilipino's Walang Sugat, Prince Christian in Trumpets' musical The Little Mermaid, Little Charles in Repertory Philippines’ production of August: Osage County, and Prince/Rod in MediaCorp and Atlantis Productions’ Avenue Q in Singapore.
Jack Denzel plays a waiter and is a double for Lance. He studied theater arts at De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde. As a student, he both directed and acted in stage productions as a member of Sining LABinsiyam, one of the in-house theater companies under a program formed by Batch 119. Denzel's first professional stage performance was in the Virgin Labfest play Polar Coordinates.
Jao Catarus is a cover for Lance. He graduated from the Philippine High School for the Arts, and is currently completing a bachelor of performing arts degree at Guang Ming College. He debuted professionally as Cadet 4th Class Anghelo Perez in Virgin Labfest's Room 209.
