'We got too excited': Singer Maki apologizes for blocking concertgoers' view at TWICE's PH show
Singer Maki has spoken out after viral photos and videos showed him and his brother standing up at a seated section in separate instances, blocking the view of the audience behind them during TWICE’s recently concluded concert in the country.
In an X post Sunday night, Oct. 5, the OPM singer wrote, “Before this day ends, I just want to tell everyone behind us during the concert that I sincerely apologize also in behalf of my siblings.”
“If I could go back and undo it, I would,” he said.
Maki pointed out that they only “got too excited” and that it “wasn’t [their] intention” to cause such inconvenience to their fellow concertgoers. “The least thing that I want to happen is to take someone else’s moment during the concert just so we could enjoy,” he noted.
“Not that it’s an excuse, but it really is our first time to this K-pop concert culture [experience] since we’ve never been in any na we really know all the dance and songs,” he explained. “It was our dream to go there and I know it’s also yours too. I’m really sorry.”
He promised everyone that it won’t happen again.
“Lastly, just for the sake of letting everyone know, if we want people to learn from their mistakes, let’s stop calling them names,” he added. “Rather, to be constructive is the best way to let them learn from their mistakes.”
He appealed to social media users to spare his brother from all the bashing. “It was my fault for not teaching him well. Sorry, ONCE,” he concluded, referring to the girl group’s official fandom name.
TWICE’s concert was held on Oct. 4 at the Philippine Arena as part of their This is For tour.
Maki and his brother became a hot topic online after they were seen standing up mid-show even though they were in a seated section at the concert venue, causing inconvenience for people at the back.
“Badtrip,” a TWICE fan wrote, sharing a photo showing Maki's brother blocking the view of the stage.
Another concertgoer posted a video of the incident, this time showing the singer standing up during the show. "Thanks, I guess sa Maki Likod VIP Experience. RIP sa mga fancams sa likod ninyo. This is not encore, guys—please be considerate of your surroundings!" the social media user wrote.

"Sensya na, Maki, I'm on the fan's side ngayon. As a concertgoer, pinakanakakaasar 'yung walang concert etiquette and based sa mga ibang nasa section niyo, hindi lang encore kayo tumayo. Okay lang if lahat sa section, tumayo na eh kaso hindi pala," another one tweeted.
An X user, meanwhile, said they understand the sentiments of the affected concertgoers as well as Maki's side. “As a K-pop con goer, I truly understand both sides and you know what, Maki, that's okay! I love how accountable you are and that's enough!"
