Here's why Camille Prats is trending on social media

"Mag-ingay para sa ating paboritong mars, Camille Prats!"

Between social media posts about the death of former senator Juan Ponce Enrile on Nov. 13, actress Camille Prats became a trending topic, leading social media users to wonder if there was a connection between the two. 

"RIP Juan Ponce Enrile at mag-ingay para sa ating paboritong mars, Camille Prats!" posted multiple social media users. 

The reason for the memes can be traced back to an episode of GMA variety show TikToClock two weeks ago, when it was announced that one of the show's regular hosts, Kim Atienza, would be taking a temporary leave of absence after the death of his youngest daughter Emman.

In the episode, TikToClock's hosts solemnly delivered messages of support for Atienza. Concluding their spiel, the hosts said, "Ang bilin po ni Kuya Kim ay ituloy ang pagbibigay ng saya dito sa TikToClock. Kaya ngayon pong umaga, isang malapit na kaibigan ang sasalo sa kanya."

They continued, "Yes. Mga Tiktropa, mag-ingay para sa ating paboritong mars, Camille Prats!"

Prats then emerged from behind dancers, accompanied by lively music. 

The reaction of social media users to the sudden shift in mood was a mix of amusement, confusion, and disapproval. 

"Eto ba 'yung may transition na sayawan kaagad? 'Di kaagad nag-commercial na parang walang nangyari. Tacky," wrote a Facebook follower of the show. 

"Ano 'to? From breakdown to breakdance?" said another. 

Atienza returned to the show on Nov. 13, while the memes took over social media upon the announcement of Enrile's passing on the same day.

Screenshots of Prats and Enrile appeared side-by-side in the memes. Many of them were captioned with, "Please welcome Camille Prats!" or "Mag-ingay para sa paborito nating mars, Camille Prats!"

Neither TikToClock nor Prats have commented on the trending memes.
