Claudine Barretto expresses support for Julia Barretto after Gerald Anderson split

Claudine Barretto publicly reacted to Julia Barretto and Gerald Anderson's split, expressing support for her niece.

The actress reshared Viva's statement confirming its artist Julia's breakup with Gerald on her Facebook page on Thursday, Sept. 18. 

"Mama is here Juls," she wrote in the caption with a broken heart emoji.

Julia and Gerald made the rounds on social media early evening as their respective agencies confirmed their breakup.

Viva and Star Magic noted that it was a "mutual" and "amicable" decision between the two.

"The circulating speculations in recent weeks regarding the reason for their breakup are unfounded and baseless," said Viva.

Star Magic, for its part, reminded the public to "respect their decision and refrain from spreading false narratives."

The two sparked dating rumors a few months after the release of their 2019 movie Between Maybes. The actor eventually confirmed their romance in an interview with Boy Abunda in March 2021.

In July 2023, Gerald revealed that marrying Julia was part of his five-year plan in life, noting how “happy” and “at ease” their relationship had been.

In June 2024, he shared he was "close" to getting hitched and settling down. "Malapit-lapit na. Siyempre, 35 na po ako," he pointed out in an interview with Karen Davila.

"That's why I'm doing all of this kasi gusto kong maalagaan ang mga anak ko na wala silang iisipin," he continued, referring to his businesses and showbiz work.

"Everything I do in life is leading up to, you know, sa aspeto na 'yan," he said of a married life.

The two fueled breakup speculations in June this year when eagle-eyed social media noticed that they were no longer sharing couple photos online.

Gerald, at the time, stressed in an interview with Toni Gonzaga that they were "okay."
