Angel Aquino reveals she falls in love with women
Angel Aquino has opened up about her sexual preferences, sharing that she likes girls.
In a free-wheeling conversation with Daily Dish hosts Monique Tuzon, Mia Rodriguez, and Ferdi Salvador, Aquino was asked to share something that people didn't know about her.
"My life is an open book," she said. "I like girls? There."
Rodriguez then said, "Maybe some people don't know that," to which Aquino joked with a laugh, "Well, a lot of people are in denial. Sila talaga 'yung in denial?"
Later on, she clarified that this means that she falls in love with women.
Aquino shares two adult daughters, Thea and film producer Iana, with ex-husband Ian Bernardez. Following the annulment of her marriage, the Ang Probinsyano star has been open about her subsequent relationships with men, some of whom were younger than her, prompting conversations about May-December romances.
Through all these heterosexual relationships, Aquino has been a vocal supporter of LGBTQIA+ rights. Her work reflects this advocacy, as well. In 2013, for example, she played Pilar, the subject of 12-year-old Anita's gay awakening in Ang Huling Cha-Cha ni Anita.
A year later, Aquino appeared in the short film Astray was shown at the International Film Festival Manhattan. In it, the actress played a free-spirited woman who has no qualms about showing her love for women.
In an interview with pep.ph, Aquino shared Astray was the first time she "kissed a girl onscreen."
Despite this, Aquino never officially publicized her sexual preferences. But at the ABS-CBN Ball 2025 in April, Aquino seemed to be ready to do so. She attended the event with Ang Probinsyano director Malu Sevilla.
