Jellie Aw and Jam Ignacio spark reconciliation rumors months after controversial breakup

Trigger warning: This article contains mentions of physical assault.

The internet is abuzz with rumors of a reconciliation between DJ Jellie Aw and her ex-fiancé Jam Ignacio.

In a now-expired Instagram story posted on Monday, Dec. 15, Ignacio shared a photo of Aw with the caption, "Shoutout sa tao na hindi ako iniwan. Alam mo 'yan kung gaano kita kamahal. Mahal na mahal kita."

The couple got engaged in November 2024 after four months of dating. But three months later, Aw posted a series of photos on social media showing her swollen and bruised face, accusing Ignacio, the ex-boyfriend of TV host Karla Estrada, of beating her up allegedly because of jealousy.

According to her sister, Ignacio beat up Aw in a locked car and took away her phone so she couldn't call for help. Aw was only able to do so when they were at a toll gate. Aw then got a medical checkup before filing a police report.

Two days later, Aw sought help from the National Bureau of Investigation and filed a complaint against her former fiancé. As it conducted its preliminary investigation, the Bureau also sent its Violence Against Women and Children division to serve a subpoena to Ignacio once they determined his location.

However, instead of showing up at the NBI for the hearing of the case, Ignacio gave an interview where he apologized to Aw and her mother. He also asked Aw if they could just settle the matter privately and promised he would never do it again.

On Feb. 21, Aw called off the wedding. She also said that while she had already forgiven Ignacio for what he did to her, she was determined to pursue the charges against him. Aw added that she still loved her former fiancé, but out of respect for her mother, who was left traumatized by the incident, the DJ was ready to still press charges.

Later that month, Ignacio surrendered to the NBI.

If you are, or if you personally know someone experiencing domestic violence, don’t hesitate to seek help to stop the abuse.
