TRENDING: Miss Jamaica falls off stage during Miss Universe 2025 preliminary round
In a startling turn of events, Miss Jamaica Gabrielle Henry tumbled off stage as she took part in the Miss Universe 2025 evening gown competition.
A video posted by an audience member showed Henry walking across the stage in an orange gown on the evening of Nov. 19 at the IMPACT Challenger in Thailand. She was participating in the last preliminary round before the pageant's coronation night on Nov. 21.
Suddenly, to gasps in the audience, the 28-year-old physician was seen tumbling into the orchestra pit. A few moments later, as other videos showed, she was wheeled out of the pit in a stretcher and hurried off stage.
Raúl Rocha Cantú, president of the Miss Universe Organization, posted on social media that he had just come from the hospital to visit Henry, and provided an update on her condition.
"I was there with her family and her, and thankfully, there are no broken bones and she is under good care. She will remain under observation for the rest of the night and we will remain in touch with her family to support her," Cantú wrote.
In a statement sent to USA Today, the MUO said Henry had sustained "a couple of minor wounds," and that she would remain under observation overnight in a Bangkok hospital.
In a joint statement, Miss Universe Jamaica national directors Mark McDermoth and Karl Williams assured that "medical professionals are attending to her care and have advised that she is not suffering from any life-threatening injuries; however, they continue to conduct tests to ensure her full recovery."
The 2025 Miss Universe pageant is slated for Nov. 21 with Ahtisa Manalo as the Philippines' representative.
